dear canucks fans,
i know your feels, brethren. i’m a die hard sox (and bruins!) fan who’s rooting for you guys this year. back in ‘04, the sox were down 0-3 in the ALCS vs the yankees. the FUCKING YANKEES. in my mind, there are no two worse fan cities in the world than new york and la. their fans are rude as shit, they’re entitled, and both think they’re something great. but you know what? fuck that. the size and industry of your city doesn’t mean that your team deserves it more than anyone else’s team. these cities don’t have real fans. they don’t have die hard fans. they come and go as playoff season comes and goes. team’s not doing well? count them out.
boston lives and breathes its sports just like vancouver lives and breathes the canucks. despite being down 0-3, we believed. it’s funny how far the belief of a fan can carry a team. they do it for you guys. all of these athletes, it’s not always for the money. money doesn’t keep them going. money doesn’t mean squat because money isn’t an ass in the seat every night living and dying with every second that ticks off the clock. money doesn’t wear your jersey with pride. your fans do. that’s you, van city. you keep your team going.
we believed. even when it seemed impossible, even when it had never been done in the history of baseball, we believed. game 4 came. the sox won. 5. they won. six and seven, IN NEW YORK, and they won and we went to the series and won that too. because fuck impossible. nothing is impossible if you believe in your damn team enough. yell it at the top of your lungs. wear your canucks jerseys with pride whether your team wins or loses because they do it all for you, and nothing is over until it’s over.
love,
boston
